Benvenuti!

Welcome to the America-Italy Society

The America-Italy Society’s mission is to promote, by educational, cultural and other means, international friendship between the Republic of Italy and the United States of America, based upon mutual understanding of their respective national ideals and aspirations and their respective contributions to progress in science, art, music, literature, law and government.

Founded in 1956, the America-Italy Society promotes a broader understanding of the Italian cultural and artistic heritage through a series of lectures, films, concerts, and language studies.  It has several hundred members in the Philadelphia area who share a love for Italy by regularly participating in these programs.

As a member, you will receive information on our events and will have the opportunity to attend a wide range of cultural and educational activities, many of which are free. Become a member today and enjoy the following benefits.

LECTURES
Each year, the America-Italy Society invites renowned authorities to speak on Italian topics, ranging from history to politics, fine arts, literature, and archaeology. These lectures keep the membership informed about current events and trends in Italy and enhance their understanding of Italy’s colorful history. Receptions often proceed the lectures and offer members an opportunity to meet guest speakers and greet each other. Lecture locations vary, so please consult the current schedule of events.

SOCIAL EVENTS
During the year, dinners and/or parties are arranged to enhance our members’ gastronomic appreciation of Italian cuisine. These events provide an informal setting for members to socialize and learn more about each other’s experience.

TRAVEL
The America-Italy Society organizes immersion experiences in Italy which provide members with an opportunity to study the language, attend food and wine tastings, and visit museums and local establishments.

LIBRARY
The Society maintains an information center for Italian affairs at its Center City office. The collection consists of books, pamphlets, and periodicals covering all aspects of Italian art and culture in both English and Italian. Materials are available for on-site consultation by members.  We are in the process of establishing a lending library for our students and members with a large selection of Italian literature.
