This course explores Italian cinema through the study of film stars, especially women. Students will examine how stars shape ideas about gender, national identity, and culture, while also looking at international influences. Topics include female heroes in traditionally masculine genres, cross-dressing performances, and directors as celebrity figures. Students will be encouraged to develop language skills to establish links between films and to discuss them critically.
Prerequisite: Upper intermediate level of Italian
