@ AISPhila office SOLD OUT Venezia e' un pesce - Venice is a fish by Daniela Cunico Dal Pra, University of North Carolina in Charlotte |
Venice has battled rising water levels since the fifth century. Today, the water seems to be winning: natural and man-made factors cause Venice to flood, a phenomenon called the «acqua alta». At the same time, the diverse secular culture of Venice is metaphorically sinking: this presentation analyzes the environmental, cultural and social decline of the «Serenissima», and her amazing ability to stay afloat, and to re-emerge on her glorious splendor.
