Born in the City of Savona into a noble family of Italian intellectuals, Nenne Sanguineti Poggi became an acclaimed painter, mosaicist, writer, and journalist. Gifted with a strong temperament and a multifaceted talent, she lived in Italy and, for 30 years, in Africa. In Africa she continued to paint, and she worked on large public and monumental projects. For a while she was even a special envoy to the UN, and she was in personal contact with important international figures in government, politics, and culture. She painted in styles from figurative post-impressionism to pure abstraction: truly an artist beyond the limits and boundaries of her times.
