Michela Mansuino

ARTIST

American, born 1961 to Italian parents, two classical performing musicians, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Currently, Michela holds the position of a teaching artist in the outreach program at Studio Incamminati. At the same time, she is the youth program instructor at The Arts of Great Falls, in Great Falls, Virginia. She's in several collections in the United States, Italy, and Brazil. She currently exhibits and sells her paintings through museums and galleries in the United States. Most recently, Michela’s self-portrait made the cover of Elan Magazine, where her paintings were featured. The National Liberty Museum showcased her painting, “The Freedom of Youth,” in Center City, Philadelphia. She has had several solo shows and participated in 20 years of group shows through Zenith Gallery, Washington, DC. She has won first prize in National and regional competitions. The Portrait Society of America awarded her honorable mentions in both Sculpture and Painting. Fine Art Connoisseur magazine has featured a still life and the Alexa #1 painting in recent issues.
Michela says her mission as an artist is to paint in the realist tradition and considers herself to be a successful artist because she is able to paint every day, whether demonstrating in a class or working in her studio. She maintains that contemporary realism is accessible to everyone because we connect with it and experience multiple layers of meaning. “I’d like for my paintings to be informative, revealing, and completely beautiful, because beauty is what unites us.”
