Linda Burns

ARTIST

After teaching art for thirty years in the public school system, I wanted to be a better oil painter. I wanted to gain knowledge and ability. I wanted to learn the language of painting. While taking workshops at the atelier, Studio Incomminati, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I met master artist and teacher Natalie Italiano. I studied with Natalie for a few years, and in that time I grew. I learned about color and the importance of value and simplification. I was introduced to the method of Bargue drawing, which helped my skills. I learned to paint from life.
Sometimes I work from the monitor, but I still enjoy painting from life, from the model, en plein air, and working from a still life.
