Piero Visconte

LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR

Piero Visconte is a dedicated language instructor from Puglia, currently based in Austin, Texas, where he teaches Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese at The University of Texas–Austin. He has a strong academic background in Romance linguistics and modern languages, holding a BA and MA from the Università del Salento in Lecce. Before joining UT-Austin to pursue his Ph.D., he spent over a decade teaching Italian and Portuguese at several universities in Puerto Rico. Piero brings a multicultural perspective to the classroom and a passion for connecting language with culture, emphasizing a communicative, student-centered approach that blends grammar, conversation, and cultural exploration. His academic interests include sociolinguistics, language contact, and language acquisition. At AIS, Piero teaches courses across all levels, from beginner to advanced, including accelerated programs and Italian citizenship preparation (CP6). Fluent in five languages and proficient in three more, he guides learners with insight into both the challenges and rewards of multilingualism. He looks forward to sharing the beauty of Italy through its language and culture.
