Michela Perego

LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR

Ciao! I’m Michela, and I’m originally from Monza—a charming town in northern Italy near Milan. I moved to Philadelphia in 2012 to pursue post-doctoral research in cancer biology. I hold a master’s degree in biology from the University of Milano-Bicocca and earned my Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from The Open University in London.

While I continue to work in scientific research, I’ve always been passionate about teaching. I began teaching Italian at AIS-Phila as soon as I could—and I’ve never looked back! I love seeing students grow, gain confidence, and become fluent in my beautiful language. Their motivation to learn is truly inspiring.

Outside the classroom, I’m an avid nature lover. I enjoy hiking (and sometimes climbing!) in the mountains, inline skating, reading, and traveling the world in search of new adventures and natural beauty. Growing up in Monza, I also developed a deep love for motorsports—especially Formula 1 and Ferrari—and I’m a big fan of European sports.
