Carlotta Schiavio

LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR

‍ ‍

As an artist, Carlotta Schiavio aka YaTii Talisman—recipient of the Extraordinary Talent in the Arts visa—brings a creative and intuitive dimension to her work. Born in Bologna, Italy, she is a native Italian speaker who uses her cultural heritage to inform both her visual art and her educational offerings.

Having grown up in Africa, her international background deeply influences her artistic perspective. Her mixed-media paintings are currently held in permanent exhibition at the Abrehot National Library in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In addition to her art, she has taught Italian internationally as a second career. Leveraging her native fluency and clear accent, she provides personalized Italian language lessons covering grammar, writing, and culture, as well as “Italian for Travel”; with each curriculum adapted to the specific needs of the student. At AIS Philadelphia, she continues to bridge her cultural heritage with her professional expertise through these tailored educational experiences.

Now based in Philadelphia, she is also a dedicated Meditation and Yoga teacher with over 18 years of personal practice and 9 years of teaching experience in international settings.

“The America-Italy Society is dedicated to fostering connections between the United States and Italy through language, educational programs, arts, cultural exchange and community engagement”
