He also studied counterpoint and composition under the supervision of Francesco Iannitti Piromallo.
He won seven first prizes in important competitions in Italy and in 1992 he won the International Guitar Competition “Mauro Giuliani”.
He then began his concert career in Italy and abroad: his tours in Japan, in Finland, in many European cities (Moscow, Prague, München, Cordoba, Granada, Valencia, Linares, Girona, Malta, Heidelberg), in Mexico (Morelia, Zamora, Aguascalientes, Mexico City) were all very successful. While in the States, Fabio Montomoli will be performing in Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh (June 5), and New York (June 7). Some composers have dedicated their works to him such as Fabrizio Festa (Suite “Paesaggi” for solo guitar, 1997) and Francesco Iannitti Piromallo (Concert in A major for guitar and orchestra, 2002; Sonata in D major for solo guitar, 2007; Suite “La Porta del Sole” for clarinet and guitar, 2009).
He also performed in several radio shows: he played for Radio Vatican and Radio Rai 2; at Radio Helsinki “La rondine” with a national broadcasting of his concert “La rondine”, Radio Rete Toscana Classica, among others.
Fabio Montomoli is currently teaching in two schools in his home region of Tuscany: he is a Professor of Guitar at the “Scuola a indirizzo musicale Leonardo da Vinci” and at the Institute of Music P. October 8, 2009 at 6:00 p.m “HO FATTO IL MIO CORAGGIO” - A movie presentation by Prof. Richard Juliani, Villanova University At the AIS office. In collaboration with the General Consulate of Italy a Filadelfia.
“Ho fatto il mio coraggio” e’ un documentario di Giovanni Princigalli. Che significa essere straniero in un Paese su cui si riversano tutte le speranze per il futuro? ‘Ho fatto il mio coraggio’ è un documentario che prova a recuperare un po’ di memoria. Quella degli italiani del sud che partivano in nave verso il Canada. E non sono tornati mai più.
